Analysis for Critical Thinkers

After publicly complaining since its inception about Arizona’s new law that allows state enforcement of current Federal immigration laws, Attorney General Holder finally admitted that he has not even read the law. He has put much effort toward defeating this law which he thinks is racist and unconstitutional. But he has never read the law. He stated that he knows about it though because of what he’s read in the papers.

Senators and Congressmen voted for the Big Government Health Care Boondoggle without even reading it. Nancy Pelosi said that “we have to pass the law so that we can find out what is in it”. The President, who also did not read the whole 2000 page bloat-law, had previously agreed to sign into law whatever health care bill comes to his desk. Much debate was made by people who never read the law.

Politicians throw the term “unconstitutional” around as if they have read the Constitution. They may have read it but learned about it by reading public school textbooks. We know that they must have either not read it or just did not read the whole thing – which isn’t really that long. The part about the enumerated powers of the Federal Government is a particularly short passage.

Politicians have condemned movies that have come out without ever seeing them. They condemn Republican proposals for laws without ever reading them. They call for bans on video games without ever playing them. They say police officers acted “stupidly” without hearing the officer’s story. They push for legislation on “climate change” without ever reading a scientific study themselves. They call their critics “evil Nazi’s” apparently without knowing what the Nazi’s actually did. They make statements about “True Islam” without reading the Koran and misquote lines from the bible that are really from the works of William Shakespeare. They call certain talk radio hosts “dangerous” but have never listened to their shows.

It sure seems that so many elected officials who believe that they know better how to run our lives never bothered to learn about the actual topic that they are passing judgement on. Emotion and how they “feel” are more important to them than critical analysis. When challenged by someone who does in fact know about the topic and wishes to talk about it, these politicians feel threatened and often resort to name calling in order to change the subject.

To anybody who may aspire to someday run for public office: Please learn about the topic that you will be voting on or condemning. Starting a debate over what you have “read in the papers” is unsatisfying to analytical minds and useless to our society in general. Just like how it should be in school, do your homework so that the next day in class, you can talk about what you learned and be better prepared to know what you are talking about.

President Obama has two school-age daughters. They seem like nice kids, as many kids are. He keeps them appropriately shielded as much as possible from the public eye so that they can perhaps grow up in as “normal” a situation as possible. However, I would hope that and would imagine that – even with a father who is so busy – there must be some Daddy-Daughter time. I am curious though as to the lessons that Obama the father – and others of his political persuasion – must be teaching to their children at tuck-in time.

I wonder if they teach their kids that whatever problem may arise in your difficult lives, Big Government shall be involved to ensure “fairness”. Big Government (B.G.) should legislate, control and mandate against any possible discomfort you may perceive. It should have “czars” – with no real legal authority – make regulations for the “public good”. B.G. will even mandate that others shall have the responsiblity to provide the money to pay for goods and services that you have the “right” to such as health care, housing, education, unemployment benefits.

I wonder if they tell their kids that being generous and noble means lobbying for laws that make others pay for these perceived entitlements through taxes, tariffs, surcharges, fines, levies, etc.

I can’t help but ask if their kids are told that the U.S. Constitution is a “living” document that grows and evolves however the current voter pool seems to want. Do they tell their kids that it was written by quaint old people centuries ago that didn’t really know what they were writing?

As they tuck in their kids, do they tell them that the attempted bombing in New York City a few days ago was an isolated incident and not to worry? Do they say that evil white conservative military veterans and “teabaggers” are a bigger risk than this lone anomaly? Do they explain what they mean when they call people “teabaggers”? Do they chide their children as being “racist” if they ask what “radical Islamic” or “terrorist” is?

Along those lines, I wonder if they tell their kids about U.S. history and things like World War II. Do they tell their kids that Pearl Harbor was bombed by some lone Japanese that did not reflect the views of “True Japanese” and that fightning Japanese in the Pacific was “racist” and “evil”? Do they portray Hitler as a “typical U.S. Conservative” who really was no threat because he did not represent the views of “True Germans”?

I would think that they don’t tell their kids that they support legislation that requires that their ideology be taught to every school child across the United States — not because they don’t, but just because they think that their kids would not be interested — or that they already know?

I would imagine that they must tell their kids that if you say nice things to bullies and to criminals and comment about how mistreated they must be, that they will leave you and your family alone.

Do they tell their kids that “all men are created equal” means that whatever you do in life, a law will exist that will guarantee equal outcome?

When they tell their kids about the rights that we enjoy as Americans, are they really talking about the Constitutionally protected God-given rights or about unconstitutionally legislated entitlements?

I wonder if they tell their kids that if they are ever offended in any way, that they are entitled to someone else’s money.

My parents used to teach me about integrity, personal responsibility,honesty, honor, hard work, perserverance and patriotism. I learned that as an American, I have the right to try to be what I want to be. If I cannot be what I want to be or I cannot have what I want to have, then it is my problem and my journey to solve on my own without the help or hindrance of Big Government. And without any money forcefully seized from my neighbors by a “noble” President or “patriotic” Congress.

I just wonder what the children of Obama — as well as public school children — are being taught as they are tucked in every night.
