Imagine!

“Every month that we don’t have an economic stimulus package, 500 million Americans lose their jobs”.
-Nancy Pelosi “Speaker” of the House.

Now just imagine if George Bush had said that!

Perhaps what she meant to say was, “We are ‘Big Government’ and we know how to spend your money better than you do – as much of it – and as fast as we can – before market forces correct the problem naturally and we waste the chance to get to be a bigger part of running your life”.

2008 Voter's Guide

The U.S. Presidential election campaign has entered its next phase. With five months to go until Election Day, here is a guide to help you decide which candidate shares your beliefs. Perhaps this will help as you sift through all of the advertisements, debates and rhetoric that is sure to come.

If you think that the government should take care of you, there is a candidate for you — If you think that you should take care of yourself and your own family, there’s a candidate for you too. If you think that it takes a village to raise a child, you can vote one way — If you think that it takes a parent (preferably two) to raise a child, you can vote another way.

If you hold your hand out and wait for someone else to give you what you think you are entitled to – vote one way — If you are too busy earning what you think you are entitled to, vote a different way.

If you are waiting around for the government to provide you with some new cleaner and cheaper fuel because you think that is their job, there is a party for you. If you get angry when some private company wants to provide you with some new cleaner and cheaper fuel because they might profit from it, then there is that same party for you.

If you listen to the opinion of a movie star and insist that it must be true but reject the opinion of a professional career military general, then there is a candidate for you.

If your arguments change as the candidates change, there is a candidate for you. If your principles stay the same through the years, there is also a candidate for you.

If you defend a president – the Commander in Chief of the military – who was a draft dodger because you say that it is “no big deal” and then complain that a different president “took the easy way out” by joining the National Guard, then there is a party for you.

If you hear about a heinous crime such as a mass murder in a school and then blame the gun manufacturer, the school, the media, certain politicians and society, there is a party that will embrace you. If you blame the killer, then a different party will embrace you.

If you hear about a big storm and immediately wonder who is at fault, there is a party for you — If you hear about a big storm and then volunteer to do charity work and send your private donation, then there is a different party for you.

If terrorists kill U.S. troops in a foreign land and you find yourself demanding hearings to know why the President lied about there being terrorists in that foreign land, then there is a party for you — If you find yourself joining the miltary to fight terrorism, then there also exists a party for you.

If you think that freedom and liberty is the natural order of things, then there is a candidate for you — If you think that freedom and liberty must constantly be defended against those that wish to take it away, then there is a candidate for you too.

If you think that the government has money, there is a party for you — If you know that the government merely spends the money of the taxpayers, then there is a party for you.

If you think that the government (ie. “someone else”)should pay for your medical care, your housing, your food, your college education, your fuel bills and your other needs, there is certainly a party for you to join  — If you think that you should pay for those things yourself, then there is a party for you too.

If you want to buy things for your family but get mad because you do not have enough money, do you seek a politician that will take someone else’s money to give to you? If so, there are politicians who wish to do that — If you have worked and saved and became able to buy things for your family, do you get mad because there are politicians who want to take your money and give it to someone else?

If you think that a politician who spends other people’s money on some cause is being “noble”, there is a party for you — If you think that same politician is merely buying other people’s votes with your money, then there is a different party for you.

If you complain that the economy is bad because a company’s profits are down but also complain when a company has record profits that must be taken away, then there is a candidatefor you.

If you think that matters of foreign policy and military strategy should be decided based on public opinion polls instead of experience and knowledge, then vote one way — If you think that experience and knowledge are more important than public opinion polls, then vote another way.

If you think that being in the “mainstream” is more important than taking a stand on an issue, then vote one way — If you think it is the other way around, vote a different way.

If you think that leadership is merely doing what other countries do, then you should vote one way — If you think that leadership is making your own decisions and leading by example, then vote a different way.

If you are upset that this thing called the “Electoral College” is so unfair, but only when your candidate doesn’t win, there is a party that needs you — If you know that this thing called the “Electoral College” is established in the Constitution and that this is how we elect presidents in this country, then there is a party that wants you.

If you believe that abortion rights, free health care, gay marriage and “separation of church and state” are actually in the Constitution but the right to bear arms is not, then there is a party that wants your vote.

If you complain about the contents of the pledge of allegiance or the wearing of an American flag lapel pin, then there is a party for you — If you realize just how ironic these complaints are, then there is a different party for you.

If you think that generosity and charity can only come from the government, vote one way — If you think that you can be generous on your own without the government, vote a different way.

If you think that it is cruel and unfair that people should be weaned off of government welfare benefits, there is a party for you — If you think that it is cruel and unfair to these same people that they should NOT be weaned off of government dependence, then vote a different way.

If you believe that dependence on the government is a right, then vote one way — If you think that dependence on the government is a restriction of your rights, then vote another way.

If you compare George Bush to Adolph Hitler because the President wants to create a stable, anti-terrorist climate in the Middle East, but then fail to see the comparison of Hitler to Iranian President Ahmadinejad when he says that he wants to wipe Israel off the face of the Earth — there is a party for you. If you do not want to bother with comparisons and rhetoric but just want the terrorism to end, then there is a different party that you can go to.

If you think that 1) U.S. troops should surrender in Iraq, 2) suspected terrorists should not be interrogated 3) suspected terrorists should be released and given the right to sue 4) prison camps should be closed 5) the U.S. should not be allowed to wiretap the phones of suspected terrorists and 6) the U.S. President and anyone else involved in the above “scandals” should be investigated, punished, and impeached — there is a party that has that agenda. If you believe that the above position is essentially pro-terrorism, then there is a different party for you. If you interviewed the average terrorist, do you believe he would not hope for the above policies?

If you complain that the President from one party, who has been in office for almost eight years, should be “doing something”  about the high price of gasoline such as coming up with new laws, then what will you do when you realize that since the other party took control of Congress – (the legislative branch of government which comes up with new laws) –   the price of gasoline has doubled?
